have a pin on you fridge or some sort to remind you when you are gonna feed him or bathe or anything like that
if its something small try to keep him in a cage so you know where he is
if its a dog or some sort try to walk him every morning with you so he can remember some happy moments with you
again if its something small if you can try to take him to work or school
try to give your pet animal friends like buying 2 of the same pets to keep him company or taking him to animal parades or something like that
and on every sunday or saturday try to take him to the park
